Oogieloves Giveaway!

When Lily was just 16 months old and in brain cancer treatment, the only way we could get her to eat was to put on a DVD of an old Raffi concert, circa 1980-something. Raffi sang about whales and stars and childhood. It was a concert full of love, with parents and children dancing in the aisles. Lily would dance and sing in her toddler way and I could sneak peas into her mouth during Baby Beluga.

Lily was scared to eat: she had thrown up for weeks because of her tumor. And then for months because of reflux, post-tumor. She was loosing weight. We were desperate for her to eat. Raffi saved Lily from the feeding tube.

And that man saved my sanity.

For years, I looked for an opportunity to see Raffi in concert--but he only performs once in while in Western Canada. Five years later, we found ourselves at a screening of The Oogieloves in The Big Balloon Adventure.

It was like a Raffi concert. And for me, a reminder of how far we've come. I love those goofy Oogiloves. I love that the movie was innocent and sweet and goofy.

The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure is the perfect film for the preschool set. The film is sweet, joyful and absolutely engaging if you are under the age of six.

You can read my review on Yoke.

Chloe, my 3 year old,  gave it "one million" stars.  Lily, my six year, was completely enamored. And me, their mother, was just happy that I did not have to keep hushing them or hide their eyes during scary parts (there are none).

Today, Yoke brings you an absolutely FABULOUS giveaway from the Oogieloves. (Valued at $150!). The giveaway pictured at the right includes two pop-up tents with three tunnels, a mobile, stickers, glitter tattoos and two beach balls.

Chloe gave her set a whirl: and loved it! The tent and tunnels have a carrying case, so they fold right up.

  1. My fondest movie memory is actual one of my daughter and I from her childhood :) Watching her little face light up and smile, laugh and dance in her seat with the Princess and the Frog was so heartwarming :) My children would love this set - they have always wanted one of these but it has never fit in the budget. So adorable! Thanks for posting this.

  3. Growing up my mother was very strick about what we could watch, so my childhood movie choices were very limited. We had a VCR collection of mom "approved" movies that consisted of Disney movies. But I do remember having Michael Jackson's Thriller video and watching that no less than a thousand times. My little brother and I loved it! I think my mom must've liked it, because it did not fit in with the rest of the approved tapes.
